Original post: The City of Niagara Falls' banking arm today will consider making $280,000 in grants for four market rate apartment rehabilitation projects and a hotel project.
NFC Development Corp. is being asked to approve:
-A $150,000 grant to Plati Niagara, the Strangio family company building a Wingate by Wyndham hotel at 333 Rainbow Blvd.
-Two grants of $40,000 and another grant of $30,000 for three projects of Cataract Development Company, a new venture for Michael Capizzi Jr., co-owner of Michael's Restaurant on Pine Avenue. The addresses of the three projects are 435 and 437 Third St. and 537 Main St.
-A $20,000 grant for Ciara Holdings for an apartment project at 1217 Main St.
The organization is chaired by Mayor Paul A. Dyster and has a board that includes the five City Council members along with other appointees from the business community. At the end of 2013, it had about $1.8 million in assets.
